Sherborne Tennis Club are excited to be holding a major charity event – “Rally for a Cause – 24-Hour Tennisathon” taking place from midday on Saturday 16th to midday, Sunday 17th May 2026.
They are raising funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MND Association) in support of Nick Chapman, a stalwart of the Club for over 30 years. Nick, their former Club Chairman has been diagnosed with MND. In his time, his contribution has been immense. Nick continues to inspire everyone by learning wheelchair tennis. The event will emphasise the power of sport to uplift and empower everyone, whether able-bodied, living with a life-changing condition, or just embracing tennis at any age.
Nick is also an invaluable volunteer of Dorset Tennis & Padel. Nick took on the role of Secretary in 2020 and has been key to the growth of our organisation. Sadly, due to MND, Nick had to step back as Secretary and Chair of our Performance Committee but remains on our Board as a Trustee and continues to give a huge amount of support.
Whether you play or cheer, everyone is welcome to join in this major charity event. The MND Association focuses on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those people living with or affected by MND in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Funds raised by sponsoring Sherborne Tennis Club will help people affected by Motor Neurone Disease. Once you donate, JustGiving will send your money directly to the MND Association.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure, your details are safe – they’ll never sell them or send unwanted emails.
As part of the event, there is a silent auction site here and a raffle draw with some fantastic prizes kindly donated by local businesses. The draw will take place around 11am on Sunday, 17th May. Find out more on the Sherborne Tennis Club website.
As well as donating, if you are interested in playing or volunteering please email : mndevent@sherbornetennis.com.
Sherborne Tennis Club thank all their friends in the local community for their generosity supporting this event.
